Farewell, Officer

"Come now, bitterness doesn't become you. Then again, nothing comes to mind that does." - Ponter

This occurred on April 23rd, 2003, when the EN portion of the Griffin Sword Saga had finished up. Consider it the conclusion to Propositioning Ponter.

[Hall of the Arkati, Altar]
Silvery moonlight filters into the chamber from a diamond-paned glaesine skylight high above. Raw silk carpets cover the floor and the pale undecorated walls have the smooth ivory gleam of aged lime plaster. A carved haon altar sits upon a small dais. Atop the altar, a lone white candle burns steadily.
Obvious exits: east

You reach out and touch a carved haon altar.

You kneel down.

You murmur some prayers under your breath.

You focus your mind on Aeddean and think:
"Evening, Aeddean."
Roundtime 5 seconds.

>think Officer!
You focus on projecting your thoughts...

You focus your mind on Ponter and think:
"There is much to report."

You stand back up.

You reach out and touch a carved haon altar.

[Ta'Vaalor, Amaranth Court]
Teeming with greenery and flowers, the center of the court provides a temporary gathering spot for the residents of the city. Beds of multicolored peonies, thickly carpeted ivy, and the wey's namesake amaranth line the cobblestone square beneath a canopy of thick shade trees. Moonlight filters through the leafy boughs above, illuminating the area in a cool silvery sheen.

You curtsy.

You say in Elven, "Hello Officer."

Dragoncleric just arrived.
Dragoncleric just went east.

Ponter nods to you.

You ask in Elven, "Did you hear about the great battle with the miscere'golab?"

Ponter says in Elven, "We have defended Ta'Illisti--"

Ponter says in Elven, "No."

You say in Elven, "Yeah."

Dragoncleric just arrived.
Dragoncleric just went west.

This man has no appreciation for true crimes being committed right in front of him.

You say in Elven, "It was a big creature in the sky."

You say in Elven, "Over Ta'Illistim."

You say in Elven, "But we killed it."

You say in Elven, "Now the Dark Alliance armies are no more, and their leaders lie ill."

You say in Elven, "Oops, I'll be back in a few minutes."

The image of a massive aegis shrouded in golden light appears before your eyes, and you find yourself fading away...

Obvious exits: none

You grin.

You kiss Mnar tenderly on the cheek.

You say, "I'm talking to Ponter."

Mnar says, "No comment."

Mnar stares off into space.

Mnar says, "Tell him I'm sick."

Mnar nods to you.

You snicker.

You raise your white shield talisman and find yourself enveloped in warm golden light...

Ponter glances at you.

You say in Elven, "Sorry about that."

Ponter exclaims in Elven, "Indeed!"

You say in Elven, "Anyway..."

Ponter says in Elven, "No, not anyway."

You shift your weight.

Ponter says in Elven, "I demand another six apologies."

You say in Elven, "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry."

Ponter nods.

Ponter says in Elven, "Continue."

You say in Elven, "So, the dark alliance leaders are ailing."

You say in Elven, "Especially Zerroth."

You say in Elven, "He may die."

You grin.

Ponter sarcastically says in Elven, "How unfortunate."

You say in Elven, "And..."

You say in Elven, "The third piece of the sword was found."

You say in Elven, "And taken to Solhaven."

Ponter asks in Elven, "By whom?"

You say in Elven, "So it looks like your nations will be free from threat for a while now."

You say in Elven, "Uh."

You say in Elven, "A half-elven female."

Ponter swears under his breath.

Ponter says in Elven, "No matter."

Ponter says in Elven, "It has been the problem of the west all along."

You think to yourself, "The same one that brutalized me when I was abducted right under your nose months ago."

Ponter says in Elven, "We merely cleaned it when it spilled east."

You say in Elven, "You're very wise."

You say in Elven, "So um."

You say in Elven, "I doubt you'll be troubled again by this. For a while anyway."

Ponter raises an eyebrow in your direction.

Ponter says in Elven, "Troubled."

Ponter rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Ponter nods.

Ponter says in Elven, "We have proven, again, that we are the mightiest people in the world."

You nod to Ponter.

Ponter says in Elven, "Let us hope many of the foreigners return to Solhaven, then."

You say in Elven, "They will."

You say in Elven, "And me too."

Ponter raises an eyebrow in your direction.

You glance at Ponter.

Ponter smiles.

Ponter says in Elven, "Good."

Your cheeks take on a slightly flushed tone.

You think to yourself, "You bastard."

You see Officer Ponter Tinning the Ranger.
He appears to be a Vaalor Elf.
He appears to be very young and tall. He has crystal green eyes and tanned skin. He has shoulder length, braided flaxen hair. He has a straight nose and slightly upswept pointed ears. He appears to be an Officer of the Vaalorian Guard.
He has a small crimson raven tattoo on his neck, and a small scar across his left cheek.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a crystal amulet, a crystal amulet, a flowing scarlet cape traced with arcing gold patterns, a gold-bound crimson leather scabbard, a lustrous crimson steel shield, a gold-traced scarlet tabard, some gold-laced deep crimson leather, a pair of ruddy crimson leather pants, and a pair of tall crimson-swirled boots.

Ponter says in Elven, "I've no further use for you now that we've won the war."

You nod.

You say in Elven, "But it was very nice working with you."

You say in Elven, "You bastard."

Ponter blinks at you.

You blink.

You flash a wide grin.

(Juspera steps toward you, trying to put an arm around you.)

Ponter glances at you.

You say in Elven, "I never told you all the things I felt inside for you, Officer..."

(Juspera reaches out a finger to stroke your chin.)

Ponter takes a few steps back.

You say in Elven, "You fascist son of a bitch."

Ponter raises an eyebrow in your direction.

Ponter laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement.

Ponter says in Elven, "I suppose that is fair."

You sniff.

Ponter says in Elven, "I used you, you used me."

You say in Elven, "If there's anything to be said for you..."

You say in Elven, "It could have been worse."

You say in Elven, "I could have had to work with Casmus."

Ponter smirks.

Ponter says in Elven, "Ignorant and unworhty."

Ponter says in Elven, "You will not be missed, Dark Elf."

Ponter asks in Elven, "May I escort you to the gates?"

You grin.

You say in Elven, "Maybe in a bit."

Ponter says in Elven, "Finish your business, then, woman."

You shift your weight.

You say in Elven, "I... am glad you listened to me, when the other officers would not."

Ponter says in Elven, "The sooner you and your kind leave, the sooner my mood shall improve."

Ponter raises an eyebrow in your direction.

You nod.

Ponter says in Elven, "Perhaps.."

Ponter rubs his chin thoughtfully.

(Juspera makes just the faintest dip of a curtsy.)

Ponter comes out of hiding.

Ponter raises an eyebrow in your direction.

You glance at Ponter.

Ponter asks in Elven, "You are finally ready to leave?"

You nod.

You sigh.

Ponter says in Elven, "Very well."

Ponter says in Elven, "Follow me."

Lord Teveriel just arrived.

You say in Elven, "You want to take me out in chains? It might amuse your fellow officers."

Teveriel turns towards Ponter and renders a sharp hand salute.

Ponter clasps your hand tenderly.

Ponter says in Elven, "I shall return shortly."

Ponter nods to Teveriel.

Officer Ponter's group just went west.

[Ta'Vaalor, Amaranth Bridge]
The thick limestone blocks of the bridge arc across the river, arching higher as they approach the center of the Mistydeep's breadth. Few travellers cross the bridge at this late hour. Those who do hurry along the way, heads down and fleet of foot. You also see a cobbled road leading towards Fearling Pass.
Also here: Officer Ponter
Obvious paths: southeast

You remove a wavy grey imflass misercord from your front-laced boots and feel confident that no one has noticed your doing so.
Roundtime: 2 sec.

Officer Ponter's group went to a cobbled road leading towards Fearling Pass.

[Fearling Pass, Cobbled Road]
Here at the bank of the Mistydeep River stands a large limestone bridge that arches the flowing dark expanse. A gatehouse sits off to one side of the approach, next to a cantilevered portcullis ready to seal off the town at first threat. From this gateway, the walls of Ta'Vaalor glisten brightly in the moonlight, the occasional tower campanile poking above. The river circles the fortified town like a giant moat, and promises a treacherous crossing for those who make an attempt at unassisted points.

Obvious paths: northwest

Ponter seems to be trying to figure out how to turn a gold-hilted crimson eahnor blade.

(Juspera glances back at the fortress.)

Ponter raises his crimson eahnor blade in triumph!

Ponter turns around.

You give a half-hearted grin.

You spin quickly behind Ponter and swiftly place your kick!

Failed!
Ponter is annoyed, but otherwise unaffected.
Roundtime: 8 sec.

Ponter glances at you.

You cough.

Ponter utters a light chant and raises his hands, beckoning the lesser spirits to his aid...

Ponter gestures at you.
Strands of webbing shoot forth towards you.
CS: +537 - TD: +155 + CvA: +2 + d100: +68 - -5 == +457
Warding failed!
You are firmly webbed in place.

Ponter says in Elven, "Good bye."

Officer Ponter went across a large limestone bridge.

Lady Jacina came across a large limestone bridge.

Lady Jacina just went northwest.

Lady Jacina just arrived.

Jacina blinks at you.

You say in Elven, "Hi."

Jacina softly says in Elven, "Juspera.."

Jacina softly asks in Elven, "Should I untrammel you?"

You say, "Um."

Jacina traces a sign while petitioning the spirits for cognition...

You say, "No, it's all right."

Jacina softly asks in Elven, "Are you sure?"

The webs dissolve from around you.

You say, "Yeah."

You grin.

You twist your head slightly, cracking your neck. That felt nice.

Jacina softly says in Elven, "Why were you--"

Jacina winces.

You say, "Ponter's farewell gift."

Jacina appears to be trying hard not to grin.

Jacina softly says in Elven, "I hope it was sealed with a kiss.."

You snicker.

Jacina giggles to herself.

You say, "You know him."

Jacina says in Elven, "That wasn't the answer I was looking for.."

You hum distractedly as your mind wanders.

Jacina squints at you.

Jacina removes a chunk of dry firewood from in the Jacina disk.

Jacina offers you a chunk of dry firewood. Enter ACCEPT to accept the offer or DECLINE to decline it. The offer will expire in 30 seconds.

You say, "Um."

You say, "Thanks."

Jacina says in Elven, "Going away present."

Jacina says in Elven, "Sorry, should have had it gift wrapped."

Jacina says in Elven, "Unfortunately, I think I'm going west too."

Jacina says in Elven, "My dedication to Voln has been put off far too long."

You say, "It will always be a comfort to know the woman who kept the Hawks from arresting me won't be so far away."

Jacina asks in Elven, "Mind some company to Illistim?"

You say, "Come along."

You reach out and hold Jacina's hand.

[Lake of Fear, South Dock]
Water laps about the pilings that hold up the greying surface of the wooden dock, the only sound to be heard across the dark and eerily silent lake. A thick coil of rope lies at the edge of the dock, waiting for the next boat to arrive. A small wooden sign is tacked to the dock's sturdy railing. You also see a ferry boat and a gangplank.
Obvious paths: south
Jacina followed.

>think Farewell. I'll be back later, or sooner.
You focus on projecting your thoughts...

You glance at a gangplank.

An elven crewman raises the gangplank onto the boat.

Jacina groans at you.

You stare at nothing in particular.

>think On second thought, since they just raised the gangplank...
You focus on projecting your thoughts...

Jacina glances at you.

"Cast off the bow line!" shouts the captain.

Jacina exclaims in Elven, "Hold the boat!"

An elven crewman leans over the side of the boat, unties the line and pulls himself back into the craft.

Jacina whines.

The boat slowly pulls away from the dock.
