Ice1

This is from the winter carnival of December '00/January '01. An ice cavern was placed on South Ring Road, where a lucky number of folks (including myself) arrived in time to carve a block of ice into an item of our own creation. I have numbered the entries below so that you can direct your friends to your own once you find it. See if you can guess which was mine!

You focus your mind on Drexla and think:
"Today, I used the Toastmaster Snackster machine I got for christmas to make egg-and-sausage pockets."
Roundtime 5 seconds.

On the translucent ice display you see a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice and a carved block of ice.

On the ice table you see an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, an ice shelf with some stuff on it, a carved block of ice and a carved block of ice.

On the ice shelf you see a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice, a carved block of ice and a carved block of ice.

1. Capturing a sparse moment in time, this block of ice has been whittled into a figurine of what seems to be one of Helga's rather flirtatious tavern wenches. She wears both a mischievious smile and a customary bar maid outfit, with ridges cut into the ice for a fashionably-wrinkled appearance. One hand resting on a hip, she pleadingly beckons you forward with the other... Yes, YOU, to gaze upon her beauty before being cast away into the "oblivion" known as... a puddle of water.

2. The block of ice has been intricately carved into a landscape of Elanthia. As you look closer, you notice several finely crafted figures which represent the various races. A large billowing cloud dominates the sky above the land, a wizened old man sitting atop, smirking and laughing as he blows his cold breath across the land.

3. A powerful sorcerer dressed in the finest robes. On his head is a magnificent crown. He is seated upon a large throne. In front of him is an endless line of dragons each bringing forth his finest treasure as an offering for his king. Inscribed in the bottom of the ice are the words "Morphias Lord of dragons"

4. The monstrous oddly-shaped ice has been carved into a sculpture of a gruesome-looking sorcerer guiding his disembodied eye through a small park and back to his empty eye socket. Crouching underneath a large statue is a tiny little sorcerer who appears frightened and stunned. Crudely carved beneath the gruesome-looking sorcerer are the words, "Maeror Imbre, Lord of Oddities".

5. This ice sculpture depicts a tall and stern giant kneeling with a snake-etched orb in one hand, the other holding a ritual dagger against the chest of a dead warrior, the orb glows with a deep crimson light bathing both he and the fallen at the moment the life and soul are returned to the body, as others stand staring unbelieving and many with anger at the scene. Beneath it is carved, "Master" by Vasal de'Baraknar

6. In front of a translucent full moon of carved ice, stands a woman dressed in a flowing fur cloak, that's been intricately worked to an opaque white. Protectively guarding her are thirteen frosted wolves.

7. You see a small ice Gargoyle that rests his hands over his knees, you notice a small sign in his hand that reads 'I still haven't found what I'm looking for...'

(Juspera taps the seventh ice.)
You scratch your head.

8. This recherche lucent ice sculpture is of a dark elven maiden eternally frozen, with flowing arms reaching towards a frosted full moon, midway through a festive rite. The scarf coiled around her body and loosely held in her delicate hands accentuates her flowing ancient dress. A look of sheer bliss graces her innocent facial features as she stands ready to dance well into the night.

9. You see a delicate ice sculpture of an exccedingly handsome giantman and a drow woman walking hand in hand, gazing at the road ahead You can tell from the expression on their faces that they are exceedingly pleased in each other. The road ahead of them is a long, smooth one..

10. You see an ice sculpture of a stunningly beautiful drow woman, a warm cloak wrapped about her slender shoulders. Her slender form disappears into the opaqueness of her cloak, and across her shoulders lays her long, braided white hair.

11. A random, jumbled up mess of ice shavings. Perhaps Choshev needs a little more practice with the chisel.

12. The glistening image of a howling frost drake perched upon a pile of shimmering diamonds. The drakes head is tossed back, its maw open exposing it sparkling teeth. It's delicate crystal wings are extended making the drakes width thrice it's height.

13. This piece of ice uniquely resembles a famished mermaid washed upon shore. Melting ice dewdrops cover her hair and reflect softly into her scales.

Setzier stares at the chisel in his hand.
Setzier tries to eat his steel chisel.
Kerridoc says, "Drop it, Setzier."
Setzier asks, "And litter the floor?"
Bablistia says, "Just drop it, but of course could just cut someone with it."
Setzier furrows his brow.

The ice will change into a delicately carved ice block after it's been worked on.
When you've finished with the carving, put it on the display for all to see.
Any attempts to smuggle out the ice or the chisel will result in the items crumbling.
Please carve the ice, not each other.

Setzier says, "Go jump into Lake Enoak and then come here, and we can chisel blocks out of you."
Setzier nods to Xeldria.
Xeldria rolls her eyes.
Xeldria says, "Like I'd actually walk that far."
Setzier smirks.
Setzier strides away, moving south.
Xeldria yells, "Let me douse you with holy water and see how long it'd take you to freeze."

14. Fashioned from a block of crystalline ice, a tiny ballerina dancer stands erect, carefully balanced on pointed toes. The tutu carved around her slender waist has been frosted with care and tinted a pale pink hue. A sparkling tiara rests on her brow, an intricate snowflake carved into each of the three delicate spires.

15. A sculpture of a large man, clothed in only a kilt, has been chiseled into the ice block's side, his physique etched broad and muscular. Curiously, a jackal's head has been placed upon the body, the eyes carved vigilantly half-closed. Engraved jaggedly in the base are the words, "Sheru, Bringer of Night."

16. The ice has been carved into A majestic wolf standing atop a cliff, raising his head to the setting sun and sending his call to his kindred, his children and his pack.

17. a ice sculpture of a beautiful halfling female in golden battle armor stuffing her face with tarts with a ear-to-ear grin on her face, and getting crumbs all over herself.

18. The ice has been carved into A rampant unicorn with flowing mane and tail, the tip of the horn catching the light as the eyes seem to follow you

19. a crytal ice carving showing a willowy warrior kneeling beside her partner wounded in battle, a tear glistening on her cheek as she raises her sword above her head in anguish; beside the warriors lay the gems and boxes amongst the dead ememies forgotten in the death of her love

20. The front side of the ice displays tall, lean human warrior holding a longsword in one hand, a laje-banded tower shield in the other. The warrior is badly beaten and bleeding from almost every imaginable place on his body, deep gashes cover him, and large tears of flesh remain hanging loosely. At his feet you notice a pile of bodies that appear to be Fire Mages, slain in a most fierce battle. Turning the ice over to the back, you see his body, now free of life, slumped on the pile

21. A small sculpture of a dancing gypsy lass frozen in mid-twirl has been carved from sparkling ice. The painstakingly carved petals of her frosted white skirt seem to billow out about her, reminiscent more of fluttering silk than of solid ice. The image is so lifelike that you can almost hear the rapid beat unfolding on the tiny tambourine which she holds high above her beribboned head.

22. The ice is carved in a shape of a grinning dwarf warrior with a large flagon in one hand and a broken sword in the other. You see that he seems to be perched on a small limb that is barley able to support his weight.

23. The hunk of ice has been only been partially carved. You can see the portrait of a face which looks sad, possibly troubled. The eyes are in a downcast position. No other features appear to have been completed.

24. A long sinous pillar of ice rises from its coiled base, intricately carved with each scale distinct on the elegant sculpture of this captivating cobra. Tasting the frigid air, a slender forked tongue is set slithering from the snake's mouth, while two hypnotic eyes of ice sparkle behind.

25. A tiny ice sculpture which is flat placed on stratetically by small figures of differant races and sizes. The barbaric complexion of some of the trinkets are ugly and portray suffering from a malicious form. Slain across the ice are carved roltons and gaks obviously used for cavalry objectives. Across the barren field coverd over by blood and guts is a ancient looking giantman with a scythe held high over the plains.

26. The ice has been masterfuly carved into the shape of beribboned scroll. As you look closer at the crystalline parchment you can see runes of power begin to grow and scatter across the scroll. Suddenly, just as you think you can read them, the runes swirl and disappear....leaving you wondering if it was all just your imagination.

27. a window of ice. Through the window you see a lone cleric dressed in black garb surrounded by a hostile group of undead while in the background you see a deep crimson mist with a dark opening. Above in the skies, a figure astride a unicorn gazes upon the setting with an interested appeal.

28. A lovely long-stemmed rose was carved from this ice, complete with a long slender stem and leaves. The rosebud was then tinted to a clear pink while the stem and leaves were tinted to a pale clear green. The ice was further fashioned into a crystal budvase. Tiny ice crystal "dew drops" were sprinkled over the delicatey tinted petals and leaves.

29. An ice statue of a perfect white dove with small sapphire like eyes

30. the ice has been carved with the stucco of a scandalous scoundrel seducing succulent, sultry, and sweet samplings of the womenfolk of the world

31. The ice has been carved into a massive and stunning depiction of Lord Cosgrave Temaraire leaning against the tree stump near Hearthstone Manner. An aloof aura surrounds him, belying sharp, watchful eyes tracking those who lurk in the shadows, with one hand at the ready on his sheath. A recent rolled-up poster from the Constabulary peeks out from his vest pocket.

32. The ice depicts a small group of friends sitting around a table littered with empty mugs. All are listening quite intently to the dwarven warrior who is obviously telling the glorious tale of his last triumph. Leaning back in his chair with his arms sprayed wide to show the size of the beast he must be exagerating, but the dishelved hair and always present ravashing smile convince you otherwise.

33. The ice has been carved into a masterful depiction of a mighty rolton, casting it's fierce gaze across the lands. It stands tall and proud, the hint if it's fiercesome fangs showing from behind his strong jaw. Between his hooves lightning jumps, representing the power this beast posseses. The image is so real, a shiver runs down your spine as you imagine it's bleating call echoing in the night.

34. The ice is a carving of a deep cave. In this cave is a burly giantman on his hands and knees and a gremlin rooting through his backpack. The giant's face shows an expression of bewilderment while the gremlin's crudely filed fangs can be seen in his wide grin as he holds up a diamond.

35. A magnificent life-size Faendryl wizard looking extremely elegant in a black mesh iron cloak. Standing tall over a horde of defeated phantasms he raises a teapot to the sky in triumphant jubilee.

36. The block of ice has been chiseled into facets which reflect light as a multi-colored spectrum ranging from intense red to deep violet.

37. The ice has been carved into the shape of nothing

38. The ice has been expertly crafted into a glistening tree. From a branch, a delicate ice rope has been strung, the end of which has been tied into a noose around the neck of a particularly dead looking halfling.

39. This ice sculpture portrays a Giantwoman Cleric and a Sylvan Bard, their arms intwined lovingly about each other, their hands displaying matching engagement rings. Hovering almost mystically above them is Cholen, who smiles radiantly upon the two, hands outstretched in blessing. Carved into the base of this stunning piece of art are the names: Lyricaen Elphatta & Aramina Edernite, blessed by the Gods with their undying love for each other.

40. The ice has been masterfully carved into a lone dark elven figure stalking around a great snoring dragon, sleeping upon a huge pile of treasures of beauty and wonder. You can see the ambition in the thief's eyes as he peers at a particular chest filled with all manner of treasure.

41. The ice has been transformed into an exquisite figurine of a stalking lioness. The majestic beast's snarling mouth is open, revealing razor-sharp translucent fangs. Chiseled into the base of the frozen figurine are the words, "Huntress of Icemule."

42. the ice has been rather crudely carved into the rough image of a female kobold. The messy carving looks to be either the work of a very young child, or some sort of backwards imbecile kobold. You decide that it must be the latter, when you note the rudimentarilly chiseled letters on the bottom of this fantabulous bust: kOrToG lUvS SaRtAg

43. The ice has been carved into a tiny caribou munching on some wildflowers. Daydreaming on the caribou's back is a cleric dressed in purple robes. She has smile on her face as she dreams of her handsome bard.

44. This ice scuplture depicts a vast city of obvious Elven architecture. The details of the miniature buildings have been carved with such meticulous precision that you can almost see the occupants moving about. The gracefully tall towers of the palace near the center of the city are topped by small flying banners. At the bottom of the sculpture is a tiny insctiption that reads 'What was, shall be again.'

45. A beautiful ice sculpted image of a grumpy, rotund dwarf resting under an enormous oak tree. In his hands is a carved wooden figurine of a dragon in flight. In the distance a jovial halfling as trotting this way.

46. The ice has been carved into a forzen image of a blonde hair Eorgina demonmostress and a white haired Eorgina high priestess cower in submission to a magnificent flirty warmage, begging for his favor.

47. The ice has been skillfully carved into a glistening image of a young woman. Apparently in her late twenties and wearing flowing grey robes, she is endowed with a pair of massive feathered wings. She peers out at you with eyes which are neither benevolent or malevolent, merely observant.

48. The ice has been carved into a warrior standing with his weapons at the ready. At his feet lay the many mangled bodies of a horde of unfortunate kobolds

49. An ice statue depicting a small waterfall and pool glistening in the light. There is a small band of friends resting near the pool, weary from their journey, yet happy to be on it.

50. The ice has been carved into a finely wrought ice spider. The spider's legs are so delicate that it appears impossible that they have been formed from ice. When the light strikes it the faceted eyes glitter with a refracted rainbow causing you to glance away.
